‘It had snowed all day and as darkness fell the full moon rose and lit a crisp, blue-white landscape.  I walked across the grass and into the copse, stepping carefully as I couldn’t see my footing.  Then I turned and looked south across the valley towards the moon.  It lit the village, turning everything into a silhouette but still casting raking shadows from the trees in the copse.  The effect was quite electric and very powerful, it stays with me even now.’
