‘I find the groynes on this coast fascinating, the oak is split and cracked, worn down by the constant battering of years of waves, stones and sand.  They wear into strange shapes and the ironwork, great bolts and nuts rust and are smoothed by the action.  All are home to large colonies of limpets, barnacles and of course the seaweed, all crusting the timbers.’
