‘I have always felt that we get the most dramatic skies colour-wise in autumn and winter.  I saw this sunset only a couple of days after I painted Winter Sunrise, so it was probably the same snow!  Again, sunset is early at this time of year and I was going along the path through the wood when I saw this, it was as if the sky itself was bleeding reds, purples and yellows as the sun sank to the horizon.  Like the sunrise, it lasted only a few minutes then slipped away as darkness fell.’
