‘A few years ago I kept chickens, it was super having your own eggs and these fluffy little balls of fun running around the place.  But, I found there was a challenge in the shape of Chanticleer here, a magnificent cock but with absolutely no sense of time or respect for sleep.  As you know, dawn in mid-summer is about 3.30am and true to form the cockerel crowed at the break of dawn, day in and day out, waking us all plus half the village nearly a mile away!’
