‘The fourth and final picture in the Woodland Season’s series.  Winter has arrived, smothering the countryside in a comforting blanket of snow.  The nights are long and the days short. the sun, when we see it is hardly above the horizon.  And yet in the midst of this cold, wet and snow, new life is beginning, seeds are starting to move, the sap starts to rise and buds begin to form.  The Holly King is defeated and  days begin to lengthen.  Truly Winter is a time of beginnings, the seeds of a new year are sown in the depths of the darkness.’
